Sharing Your Diary
Sharing Your Diary
Have you ever stayed on your "A" game because you had a support system? That’s what success is all about! If you want support from friends or family to help you reach your goals, sharing your diary, and keeping your food log public might be helpful.
Share Your Diary
To share your diary: Settings > Diary Settings > Diary Sharing
You may choose to share your diary with anyone (Public), or make it accessible to your MyFitnessPal friends only, or provide restricted access to specific individuals by putting a password protection on your diary (“Locked with a key”)
View Someone Else’s Diary
To view someone else’s diary: Go to your friend’s profile (More Menu > Friends > Select User)
When you’re on your friend’s profile page, tap the diary icon to view their diary. If their diary is private, the icon will be inactive.
Share and Copy Meals from Friends
If you eat out with friends and family who use MyFitnessPal, you may copy a meal from them for faster logging. This is only possible if their Diary’s privacy setting is set to be viewable by you. See previous section to learn how to update your Diary privacy.
To copy a meal from a friend:
Go to your Friend’s profile > View Diary > Navigate to the meal you want to copy > Tap the “…” menu > Copy To Date, or Save As Meal for future logging.
Export Your Data (Premium Feature)
If you would like to share your MyFitnessPal data with someone else, like a personal trainer or doctor, you can upgrade to Premium to unlock the File Export feature. Our data savvy users may also enjoy extracting the raw data to create custom data visualizations and advanced analysis by running it through other programs.
When you export your data, you’ll get a .CSV spreadsheet file that contains:
Your meal level nutrition details
Progress history
Exercise history
To export your data:
Tap “Export” from your Progress screen or your Nutrition screen.
This will take you to the File Export screen where you can set the time period of the data you would like to export. Because the CSV files will be emailed to you, please check that the email that is linked to your account is correct. If it isn’t, you can update your email address via the screen as well.
Once you’ve hit “Export My Information,” you will receive an email containing your CSV files as attachments.
